New Year’s Eve – NDY Last-Minute Mini Guide

If, like me, you’re only just thinking about how to welcome in the New Year, don’t panic, you’re not resigned to braving the crowds along the Thames or watching the fireworks on TV.

Here are five fab options which are still available (at the time of writing) so you can see out 2018 in style…(or the local pub, as you prefer).

London

House Party at the Lanesborough

The Lanesborough on Hyde Park Corner will close rather than open its doors for an exclusive New Year’s Eve House Party, which will take over the entire ground floor. The opulent Céleste dining room will be transformed into a nightclub, gypsy jazz will set a Belle Epoque mood in the Belgravia Ballroom, while the Library. Tickets from £250 pp including a buffet from Michel-starred executive chef Steeven Gilles, and a welcome glass of champagne. Dress code: fabulous!

Party at Dorsett City, Aldgate

Jin Bo Law sky bar at the Dorsett City hotel promises a ‘seriously stylish soiree’. Enjoy afternoon views of Tower Bridge, the Shard, the Walkie Talkie and the Gherkin from the rooftop terrace as the sun sets on the final day of the year. Once darkness falls the fun will begin; dance the night away to the year’s hottest tunes from house DJs, a snow machine, canapés and, apparently, an unforgettable special guest appearance. Tickets are £45 pp including a cocktail on arrival and a glass of Champagne to toast at midnight.

The bar is also offering an exclusive pre-party cocktail masterclass at Jin Bo Law for a select number of Mastercard holders, with a spirit master, when guests are invited can learn to concoct their favourite tipple to ring in the New Year. Tickets are £45.

Or avoid the Uber surge rates and start the new year in a new location with a hotel stay:

Hambleton Hall, Oakham, Rutland

This lakeside country house hotel is hosting a two-night stay including a black tie six-course NYE dinner with champagne reception, followed by music and dancing. Work off the excesses and a hearty Hambleton breakfast with a walk around Rutland Water or the hotel’s 17-acre grounds (£1,190 per room total).

The Vineyard, near Newbury, Berkshire

The award-winning wine hotel is promising a weekend of gourmet food, fireworks and, of course, fine wines. Guests arrive on the 30th for a three-course dinner, then full breakfast and tea the next day before the highlight: a Black Tie party with a five-course tasting dinner with paired wines, with a live band to see in the New Year. A brunch with bubbles completes the indulgence. From £695 per person.

Bodygallen Hall, Llandudno, North Wales

Arrive for the Hall’s New Year's Eve House Party at this on 31st December. This break includes one night’s accommodation, full afternoon cream tea, champagne reception and a five-course dinner with selected wines on New Year's Eve (black tie optional this one) and brunch on New Year's Day. Guests can make full use of the spa or just wander around the Hall’s 200 acres of National Trust parkland. Rooms cost from £770 per night for two.
